Nhat V. Today was supposed to be the first full-squad workout but it has been postponed due to an unexpected delay caused by the Fourth of July holiday. Players maintained social distances and wore masks because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Are two weeks of practice and a handful of exhibition games adequate preparation for a baseball season? No part of this season is going to be perfect… and I think just knowing that helps my mindset a little bit. But given the lack of preparation time — spring training usually lasts six or seven weeks and includes games and countless practice opportunities — the on-field play when real games start might be a hot mess, too.
They came into camp cold. For instance: Giants catcher Buster Posey. He stayed in the Bay Area during the shutdown and was only able to hit off a tee during that time. Conventional baseball wisdom is that hitters start the season well behind pitchers. If some hitters are just now seeing live pitching for the first time in months, is a couple of weeks enough time to catch up? Remember: each game will matter roughly three times more than the games from a standard game season.
Right now, no one knows what a pitching rotation will look like in We might not know until well after the season starts, if at all. Will any of these pitchers be allowed to throw enough pitches to reach the five innings a starter needs to qualify for a win? Maybe hitters can adapt to a shortened preseason and come out of the gates slugging. Or perhaps the sport will set another whole-season strikeout record in only 37 percent of the time because no one can handle mile-per-hour heat for weeks.
Yes, the sport might be back — that we can all celebrate — but because of a pandemic and a collective bargaining showdown, the likelihood is high that things are about to become extremely funky in Major League Baseball. And forgive me for wondering it could all be avoided by a couple more weeks of preseason and a few more days in the cold come the fall.

It automatically produces images of cats in white robes walking around on their hind legs at a day spa. In reality, however, the practice can give new life to cats, especially felines in their golden years. Katie Tontala has been practicing cat massage for the past 20 years.
A nurse by trade, she also became a licensed massage therapist in the lates. An animal lover at heart, when she heard of cat massage, she decided to continue her education and traveled to Circleville, Ohio located south of Columbus to a place called Integrated Touch Therapy to learn the craft.
Tontala, who runs a website called catbehaviordemystified. Tontala teaches the former to cat owners and shelter volunteers in a series of classes she holds several times a year at Animal Friends, in the North Hills. You learn where to massage and pet your cat in a way that is soothing and calming. Therapeutic massage, Tontala says, should only be done by a trained massage therapist.
This is used to treat cats who have medical conditions like feline arthritis or geriatric cats that have a hard time getting around in their old age. Tontala often fosters older cats and provides hospice care for cats in their final days.
It really does help their quality of life. I want to make them comfortable and, besides, no animal should ever die in a shelter. Tontala is also a believer in both wellness and therapeutic massages for all types of animals, not just cats.

The pain of sciatica has been described as achy, sharp, tingling, or has sometimes been likened to electric shocks. Pain can be mild, moderate or severe, infrequent or constant, depending on the degree of nerve involvement. What Causes Sciatica? Sciatica is usually caused by compression of the sciatic nerve, a large nerve originating at the base of the spine. This compression can be caused by subluxations misalignment of the lower spine; herniated or bulging discs ; pregnancy and childbirth when pelvic bones shift and the tissues surrounding them are softer and more movable ; tumors or diabetes.
Sciatica is often a result of Piriformis Syndrome. The piriformis muscle is located in the lower spine and is involved in hip rotation.
David Paul Elias
The sciatic nerve is located directly beneath the piriformis muscle, so any injury or disorder affecting this muscle can result in pinching of the sciatic nerve. In most cases, sciatica can be treated non-surgically and non-invasively. Advanced therapies such as spinal decompression and deep tissue medical laser therapy can also create dramatic results. And unlike myofascial massaging tools, such as foam rollers, that can yield similar results, massage guns can hyper-target a specific problem area. For those who find foam rollers uncomfortable or too manual of a process, massage guns offer a more streamlined, automatic solution.
But what it does do is increase blood flow to a specific muscle area, which can help reduce inflammation and muscle tension and break up those pesky knots that seem to linger after a hard workout. Massage guns are also used prior to intense workouts to help warm up muscles ahead of activity.
Do massage guns actually work? As percussive therapy becomes more popular, more studies are being released about its benefits and potential limitations. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence out there supporting the idea that massage guns do help, however. Theragun, for instance, was developed by Jason S.
Werslanda chiropractor who created the device to help with his own rehabilitation after a motorcycle accident. Wersland set out to create a massage tool that would help ease pain with its use of high frequency and amplitude. According to Wersland, since its inception, other health professionals have sworn by the Theragun.
